Prize league rules
Draft for legal review. These rules have not yet been checked by a solicitor. No prizes are offered until they have been.
1. The promoter
The TriviaWorld prize league (the “League”) is run by [PROMOTER LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], [COMPANY NUMBER IF ANY] (“we”, “us”). Contact: prizes@triviaworld.app.
2. Who can enter
The League is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over with a TriviaWorld account. Our employees, their immediate families and anyone professionally connected with the League can’t enter. Each person may have one account. Entering means you accept these rules.
3. Free entry
Entry is free. No purchase or payment of any kind is needed to enter or to win. TriviaWorld Pro is a separate optional subscription: it gives no advantage in the League, and Pro category rounds do not count towards it.
4. How to enter
Sign in, open the prize league page and confirm that you are 18 or over, live in the UK and accept these rules. Daily rounds you finish after joining count towards the League.
5. The competition
Each League period is one calendar month, starting at 00:00 and ending at 23:59:59 UK time. Every day there is one daily round of 6 questions, the same for every player. For each question you place a pin on a world map within 30 seconds. You score up to 1,000 points depending on how close your pin is to the correct place, plus 100 points for landing within 750 km and a 1,000-point bonus for doing so on all 6 questions. An answer given after the time limit, or no answer, scores nothing. Only your first attempt at each day’s round counts.
6. How winners are decided
This is a competition of knowledge and skill. Winners are the players with the highest total points from their counting daily rounds in the month. To win a prize you must have finished at least 5 daily rounds in that month. If players have the same total, the one whose answers took less total time ranks higher; if still tied, the one whose answers were less far from the correct places in total ranks higher. If players are still tied after that, they share the prizes for the positions they tie for equally. No winner is chosen at random.
7. Prizes
Each month: first place £50; second place £25; third place £10. Prizes are paid by bank transfer to a UK bank account in the winner’s name. There is no alternative prize and prizes can’t be transferred.
8. Telling and paying winners
We email winners at the address on their account within 7 days of the month ending. To claim, a winner must reply within 28 days with the details we ask for. Before paying, we will check the winner’s identity, age and UK residence, and we may ask them to play a short verification round under our supervision to confirm their level of skill. We pay within 30 days of a successful check. If a winner doesn’t reply in time, can’t be verified or isn’t eligible, the prize is forfeited and may be offered to the next player in the standings.
9. Fair play
You must play on your own and without help. We may disqualify any player, withhold a prize and close their account if we reasonably believe they have broken these rules, including by using more than one account, getting answers from another person, account or source while a round is in progress, sharing answers, using automated tools, or interfering with the game. Our decision on fair play is final.
10. Publicity
We publish winners’ display names, positions and scores on the League page. We will not publish a winner’s full name without their permission.
11. Your data
We use your account details only to run the League, check eligibility and pay prizes, as set out in our privacy policy.
12. Changes and cancellation
We may change or cancel the League if circumstances outside our reasonable control make it necessary. Any change will not reduce prizes already won.
13. Law
These rules are governed by the law of England and Wales.
